Train to This: Tom Foreman
With the beginning of 2019, there are a lot of people out there trying to get themselves back in shape. Apparently exercising and dieting are super popular goals to set this time of year. But since most people don’t really take their New Year’s goals seriously, they end up not following through beyond the first month or so. Especially with the exercising.
Since I’ve been trying to get myself going and being a “real” runner. Jogger. Walker. I mostly walk. I am always looking for some great things to listen to when I’m out walking. Since I was running low on podcasts that I wasn’t getting sick of, I signed up for a year membership with Audible. When you sign up for a year, you get two free books, and they give you all your credits up front. You don’t have to wait for the next month to get your next book. Which I love!
I don’t remember how exactly, but I stumbled upon the book My Year of Running Dangerously by Tom Foreman. I loved it because it was a real life person talking about training for running a marathon with his daughter. It’s not some elite athlete talking about stuff that most of us won’t ever be able to do. He’s down to earth, and easy to listen to. To me this wasn’t a self improvement book, or a training plan, or anything like that. Just a guy talking about running.
Training to it is great because it helps you feel like you aren’t the only one who is out on the road, sometimes so exhausted and sore that you aren’t sure why you’re doing it. It helps you feel like you can push through it, and accomplish what you set out to do. It’s like a friend jogging next you telling you it’s all going to be worth it in the end.
