What is NaNoWriMo?

Welcome to NaNoWriMo Bootcamp! I’m excited to go on this journey with you.

I’ve been editing for 5 years, and love helping writers become the best author they can possibly be. The decision to start a blog was a long time coming, and I’m happy it’s finally here. What better way to start off a blog for writers than to get them started on their writing as soon as possible? The timing of this blog going live was a deliberate decision, to coincide with the build up to National Novel Writing Month. The goal at the end of the Boot Camp is to have you feeling confident when you tackle the task of writing an entire novel in the month of November.

Which is basically what National Novel Writing Month is. You write an entire novel starting on November 1st and finishing on November 30th. Some people do set a word count for your novel, but that’s not going to be the focus of this Bootcamp. I just want you to feel the success of writing an entire story, from beginning to end in the space of a month.

There are a few problems I see with the whole idea of NaNoWriMo, the first being that you can’t really write a novel and have it entirely ready for publication in a month. You can have a rough draft, but not a cleaned up read to send to the masses manuscript. We will talk more about this later in the blog.

Because of this, the series will continue until the end of November, to help get you through those bumps along the way and hopefully get you well on your way in the publication process.
